Team

Project will be managed by a group of volunteers. It will run in collaboration with EMDR UK and Ireland’s humanitarian assistance programme and other Non Government Organisations (NGOs). These NGOs will help seek funding. They will also provide logistic help to organise this training programme.

  • Dr Desmond Poole is the supervisor of the project. He has extensive experience of running and organising similar projects. Currently he organises 3 part EMDR training in Ulster University Belfast. He has been past President and founder member of EMDR UK and Ireland.
  • Professor Dr I. A. K. Tareen will also help in establishing links with Departments of Psychiatry. He is former head of Academic Department of Psychiatry and Behavioural Sciences Mayo Hospital and King Edward Medical College Lahore. Currently he is the President of Mental Health Foundation of Pakistan. He will also help in finding suitable venues for training..
  • Dr Khalida Tareen is Professor Emeritus Child and Family Psychiatry, King Edward Medical College and Mayo Hospital Lahore. She has long established record of work in Mental Health of children in Pakistan. She is also the Secretary General of National Society of Mentally and Emotionally Handicapped Children Lahore Pakistan. She will help organize training event and will liaise with Government agencies
  • Dr A Bashir Currently working as consultant Psychiatrist. Has conducted different training courses in UK and Pakistan.
  • Dr Amina Tareen Consultant Child Psychiatrist works at Barnet Enfield Haringey Mental Health Trust, North London. She is in Pakistan for one year. She will help facilitate training events and continuity of training.
  • Professor Dr Aziz-Ur-Rehman,  Head department of Psychiatry Ayub Medical College will be local organizer in Abotabbad. Associate Professor Khwaja Younis will be the event co-ordinater.
  • Muhammad Saleem Tareen will be the main co-ordinater for the project. He is currently working as Specialist Registrar in Psychiatry in Northern Ireland Training scheme. He has completed his EMDR training. He has experience of organising and running of training courses and examination for local National Health Trust and Queens University Belfast. He also has experience of teaching and training Nursing staff and junior Doctors in Pakistan and Northern Ireland. He is currently running a research project in Causeway health and social services trust Northern Ireland.
