Evaluation and Supervision

Evaluation

Affected areas in Pakistan have different culture and language than the areas where EMDR has been used successively. Trainees will be asked to maintain log book of cases seen. The set forms will be used to collect demographic data and histories. It will help identify that standard EMDR protocol is used.(See Appendix)
Assessment of patients involve use of standardized instruments like Impact of Event Scale. The progress and recovery of patients will be monitored with use of similar instruments. This will help in evaluating efficacy of EMDR for earthquake affected areas in Pakistan.

Supervision

Supervised practice of EMDR is of paramount importance. It is also important that these skills are used in affected areas on voluntary basis.
After each training session, trainers will physically supervise clinical work for a variable number of days. After that it will be ensured that all trainees have access to computer and email, where they are able to store the necessary assessment and forward it to trainers /organizers. They will feed back via e-mail. Trainees will also be encouraged to form peer groups.
One of the organisers will also visit the trainees in their clinics once bimonthly. He will discuss any problems and will monitor that successful progress has been made.
